‘The Root, The Soul’ is the debut album from veteran UK deep house producer Pete Dafeet.
Pete approached us to design the artwork for the album and accompanying 3 vinyl singles.
After listening to the (awesome) album and chatting with Pete about the style he wanted we came up with the idea of creating a design that was organic, visually striking and something that could tie in the 4 pieces of artwork. We soon struck upon the concept of flower close-ups, each with a definitive colour that was closely linked to the other pieces of artwork.
The album was released on Pete’s own record label – Lost My Dog Records and was, in fact, one of the final releases as Pete (and co-owners Ian and Nags) had decided to shut down the label. We decided with the inner sleeve of the CD to create a montage of photos from the last 10 years of the label, featuring artists, DJs, friends, clubbers and of course various dogs!
‘The Root, The Soul’ is available to stream on Spotify.
